Thomsonfly scrap Barcelona flights
28.10.07
Thomsonfly has scrapped its flights between Coventry Airport and Barcelona this winter because of competition from other airports in the region. The last flight for the popular Spanish city will take off on Thursday.
The service will not run over the winter and would be reviewed next year, but looks unlikely to return. A spokeswoman said: 'Regrettably, the route will be discontinued. The last service will operate on November 1.'
'We apologise to anyone who may have been inconvenienced by this decision, which was taken as a result of a significant increase in the number of competing services on the Barcelona route from other Midlands airports.'
'The route has been discontinued for the winter flying season, but the situation will be reviewed for the summer season. The discontinuation of this route is not anticipated to have any knock-on effect on any other route.'
The airline faces competition on the route from Birmingham and East Midlands airports.
