Government inspectors to hold pre-inquiry meeting at Coventry Airport today
26.09.05
Government planners are visiting Leamington Spa today to look into the row over the expansion of Coventry Airport. A pre-inquiry meeting is being held on Monday ahead of a second public inquiry beginning in January.
Warwick District Council has objected to the plans to extend passenger facilities at Baginton. The inquiry will consider the airport's two planning applications for a permanent passenger terminal to be built on the Baginton site. Application A is for a 3000 sq. metre terminal, while application B is more than three times larger at 10,000 sq. metres.
At a special planning meeting held last week councillors rejected officers' recommendations to accept a special series of controlling measures in relation to the plans. The meeting is to reconvene on Wednesday.
