Airport regains commercial flights licence
26.08.10
Coventry Airport has regained its licence to carry flights. The CAA has granted the airport its operational licence, which means flights for commercial, business and cargo use can start using the airport.
The airport was taken over by tycoon Sir Peter Rigby in April, after it hit turbulent times at the end of 2009. Sir Peter, chairman of Patriot Aerospace, said: ‘I’m excited to be launching a new era in the long history of Coventry Airport. We can now handle business jets, cargo, light aircraft and helicopters, but this is just the beginning. This is an airport with a big future. We intend to make it one of the crown jewels of the area, providing growth and jobs for the community, and will leave no stone unturned to develop this business.’
