Airport outsource security

Security at Coventry Airport has been outsourced. The airport has signed a £30m contract with City Aviation Services (CAS) to outsource key personnel, including security, baggage, airport parking, cleaning and driving staff.
Coventry is believed to be the first UK airport to outsource its entire security operation, a move backed by the Department for Transport. No staff have been made redundant as a result of the change.
CAS has worked at Coventry Airport for more than 11 years. In 1997, the company was contracted to provide cargo and airport car park staff, and since 2004 is has supplied back-up security personnel to cover staff holidays and sickness.
