Warwick council vote to continue Coventry Airport opposition
23.09.05
Warwick district councillors have voted to continue their opposition to plans to expand Coventry Airport. It had been expected they would abandon their objections following a lengthy and expensive legal battle at a meeting last night.
Council planning officials had recommended that they accept a mitigation package on offer. However, councillors decided by four votes to three to continue the fight, against the advice of senior planning officers.
A second public enquiry on the airport is due to be held in January, but a final government decision is not expected for several months. A ruling on the first public enquiry is expected before the end of the year.
