Passenger flight return still planned; freight fights from next month
23.08.11
Coventry Airport owner Sir Peter Rigby will continue to push ahead with plans for passenger flights from the hub, as he announced that freight flights would return in September. He told the Coventry Telegraph his plans are still very much in place – despite the airport business park being refused Enterprise Zone status last week.
Although Sir Peter admitted that it is not ‘proving easy’ attracting passenger airlines to the airport, he said that he is determined to continue his bid to bring passenger flights back. He has also confirmed freight flights will start again next month, after winning back all of the operators who left the airport when it closed for a short period in December 2009 under previous ownership.
