Aviation art exhibition launched
19.08.11
A Second World War hangar at Coventry Airport is hosting an exhibition of aviation art, the largest of its kind outside London. A gallery of over 200 works of art including landscapes, ships and aircraft – from the first planes to modern day jets – painted by artists of both national and local repute is being staged at the Midland Air Museum.
Museum volunteers created the unique gallery in the aircraft hangar. Walls were built especially for the occasion and the pictures were hung carefully, making sure the lighting was just right for the pictures to be seen at their best.
During the exhibition, which closes on September 3, there will be a range of workshops for visitors, including painting with local artists and constructing model planes. These are at no extra cost above the entrance fee to the museum.
Entrance costs £6 for adults, £5.50 for OAPs, £3 for children, with under 5's are free. There is also a family ticket costing £16.To book a hotels UK airport or car park UK airport at the lowest price click on these links to airport car parking and airport hotel price comparison websites.
