Coventry enjoys freight growth

A report has revealed Coventry Airport is one of the fastest growing air freight hubs in the UK. According to the latest Airport Property Market report from property consultancy King Sturge, the airport was the second fastest growing freight airport in 2006. The annual amount of freight handled rose by more than 100% over the two years 2004 to 2006.
The report for 2008, which analyses performance from 2006 to 2007, shows that both Coventry and Birmingham were among 9 out of 20 airports that carry more than 1000 tonnes whose freight carriage increased.
Ian Cornock, managing partner at King Sturge's Birmingham office, said: ‘Coventry Airport has performed well since it entered the league table of Europe's Top 10 fastest growing airports in 2005. Airports within the West Midlands are still an attractive investment opportunity for commercial property investors.’
