Airport gets BAE air traffic control simulator
17.03.08
BAE Systems have supplied their MASE (Modular Airspace Synthetic Environment) flight simulator to Coventry Airport. MASE simulators are also currently in service at East Midlands and Filton airports, RAF Shawbury and RAF Boulmer.
A BAE spokesman said: 'Coventry Airport has a requirement to train its controllers in approach radar control as well as procedural control on the single student, 2 pseudo pilot system. They are currently being trained for ATC ratings using the MASE simulator at our air traffic control college in South Wales.'
David Smillie, Manager Air Traffic Services at Coventry Airport said: ‘This new MASE simulator is going to help enormously with initial, continuation and training in unusual circumstances. It is very impressive in its accuracy of our real system.’
