Rare Coventry based plane to fly at air shows next year
09.12.07
A rare historic plane based at Coventry Airport will fly at air shows across the country and Europe next summer. The Douglas DC6 will be flown by pilots from Air Atlantique Classic Flight, which is based at the airport.
The aircraft is one of only two DC6's flying in Europe and is painted in the colours of KLM, which operated the plane in the 1950s. Mike Collett, owner of Air Atlantique, said: 'I am very proud of the DC6 and the team that keeps it flying.'
Air Atlantique has been running for more than 30 years and also operates DC3s, de Havilland Rapides, a Scottish Aviation Twin Pioneer, Avro Anson, de Havilland Devon and Percival Prentice. It also operates historic military jet aircraft including Canberra, Meteor and Vampire.
