Passenger flights end

The final passengers have flown in to Coventry Airport as holiday airline Thomsonfly ended its operations there. Its last scheduled service arrived from Malaga in Spain this afternoon.
The airline said the increased focus on charter flights, rather than on scheduled flights such as those operating from Coventry, led to the decision to close its base at the airport it once operated. A spokesman for the airport has said that it regretted but understood the airline's decision. Its business aviation and cargo operations will continue.
