Coventry Airport for sale
08.05.09
Coventry Airport has been put up for sale. The airport lost its last passenger airline last year and has seen plans for a new terminal rejected and a legal challenge fail, forcing it to focus on business and freight flights.
Thomsonfly axed its passenger services from the airport last November, as it shifted its focus to charter holiday flights rather than scheduled flights. Plans for a new terminal were dropped in February after a legal challenge to a public inquiry blocking its planning application failed.
However, airport director Brian Cox said the airport offered ‘excellent potential’. He said he was ‘looking forward’ to attracting another passenger airline in the future, adding: ‘Presently we are concentrating on developing the airport as a 'Midland hub' for cargo, executive jets and ad hoc charter operations.’
