World's oldest jet lands at Coventry Airport
06.07.11
Britain's oldest flying jet plane landed at Coventry Airport yesterday. The Gloster Meteor T7 G-BWMF first flew in 1943 and was the first jet to be used in World War II. It will now be used in air shows and for pilot training.
The plane that will be based at Coventry Airport was built in 1949. Ahead of its move to Coventry, it underwent a £500,000 rebuild. It joins 30 other iconic aircraft at the Airbase attraction at the airport.
