Almost 100 redundancies
04.12.08
Coventry Airport businesses have made almost 100 people redundant. Baggage handlers and security staff working at the airport have been laid off after scheduled flights ended at the airport last month.
But most of the workers – who were expecting a month’s pay and a redundancy payment – have received nothing after Coventry Airport Handling, which employed the baggage handlers, went into administration last Friday. This has left 62 workers without the money they were expecting.
Workforce Direct, a second firm based in Coundon, which provided security officers to the airport, has also made about 30 employees redundant.
