Council expected to approve Coventry airport plans tonight
04.07.05
Warwick District Council are expected to accept the plans put forward by the operators of Coventry Airport to reduce noise and aircraft movements in return for approval of their temporary terminal at a meeting this evening.
The council is expected to accept the package being put forward by the airport's operators , travel company TUI, (see this earlier coventry airport news story) at a special planning meeting today. The airports plans for 2,000 more airport parking spaces on the south side of the terminal are also expected to be approved at the meeting.
Whatever is decided at the meeting though, will not mean that planning permission for the temporary terminal has been granted. That will be decided by John Prescott, the deputy Prime Minister, after the public enquiry into the terminal has finished. A final decision on the terminal is not expected until the end of 2006. Although a decision on the airport parking will be binding and final, the airport is not expected to proceed with this until the terminal decision is made.
